Matthew O. “Matt” Huusko was a native of Copper Country, Michigan in the upper peninsula. He started taxidermy in 1921 at the age of 11. In 1935 he moved to Detroit where he operated one of the few successful taxidermy studios in Michigan. He continued to sculpt, mold and mount a wide variety of game in this studio well into the 1960s.
